Nail mani of the week & FOTD

Double whammy post today guys, just cos I'm on the run and won't have time later as I'll be trekking cross country to go home.

Ok, first up is my nail mani of the week. I'm a huge fan of leopard print at the moment, don't ask me why. Last night I actually (shock, horror) had finished my work early and had the evening to myself for a change. So, cue me sitting down to watch True Blood (what do people think of that, by the way?) and rooting around my nail polishes for two shades of the same colour.

I went for my tried and trusted favourite, No 7's Stay Perfect Nail Colour in Pearly Pink as the base, Avon's ColorTrend Colour Me Pretty in Flash, and Nails Inc's London Nights for the black leopard spot outline. Topped off with Barry M's 3 in 1 clear topcoat.

Here's the finished product:

It is really, really easy. Honest :)

1. A coat of No 7 on all nails. Let them dry.
2. Use the brush in the Avon bottle to create wiggly shapes on each nail. I got about 5 per nail. Let them dry.
3. Using a dotting tool, dip it in the Nails Inc and outline parts of the shapes you've created. Not complete outlines though. Let them dry.
4. Complete with a top coat. And ta-da, you're done :D

And then to my FOTD:

I used the 120 Pro Palette for the eyes. Felt a bit adventurous today :) And for the lips I used Avon's Pro To Go lipstick in Frozen Rose. I think I've posted this look before but not 100% sure. Anyway I've got to run to an Equity lecture so I shall hopefully blog again sometime in the near future.

Until next time,

A bull in a... Bullring

So, yesterday I went to Birmingham for a talk at the College of Law. For someone who wasn't sure if/when/where I wanted to do the LPC, my mind is now pretty much made up. Good times. I had a lot of things clarified which was useful.

After our talk, we decided to head back to the city centre and went to the Bullring. I've never been before, and someone I met on the trip decided she was going to give me a guided tour.

First stop Krispy Kreme in Selfridges :) *Om nom nom* Try a Krispy Skreme if you're passing, they're gorgeous! And Halloween themed. Obviously.

Went into the huuuge Superdrug. Found some make up brands you can only get in stores in big cities, then promptly forgot what Becky over at Confessions of a Make Up Addict had recommended. Oops. Luckily, Brum is only about an hour by train so I can easily pop back.

Of course, being all grown up and all *ahem* we couldn't resist going into the Disney Store.

Then I saw the MAC counter in Selfridges. I had to force myself to go in the other direction. I can't afford such luxuries on my student budget :( However I might pop back when I get paid next week...

The real reason of this post, was to show you all the amazing thing I saw in the ground floor department of Selfridges:

A bull, made of jellybeans. It's actually for sale. £20,000 anyone?

Nail mani of the week!

I'm off to Birmingham tomorrow for the College of Law Open Day. I remembered about an hour ago that I needed to do my nails. Yesterday, I'd seen some mani photos from China Glaze and was in the mood for some experimentation.

Here's my inspiration from China Glaze:

I don't have any China Glaze polish as I can't find any retail outlets that stock it in the UK. If you're any the wiser, I'd love to know :) So I used my alternatives and here's what I came up with. I've done 4 pics, one with each bottle of polish that I used:

Rimmel London Wear Maxx in 345 Pop Apricot

Rimmel London 60 Seconds in 819 Green With Envy

Nails Inc in London Nights

Barry M Basecoat, Topcoat & Nail Hardener All In One (used as topcoat only)

I am actually a little bit in love with this mani! What do you guys think? It was actually surprisingly easy. One coat of Pop Apricot, I did the tips with Green With Envy using a small, stiff nail brush (diameter approx 3mm), added the black 'seeds' with a dotting tool using London Nights, then topped it with the Barry M 3 in 1 clear polish. Actually didn't take that long either :) Just something different to do while I had some spare time on my hands. Believe me, such is precious these days!

Until next time,

Nail colour of the week

Hi everyone,

Well I got bored of reading some dreary chapter about how lame the criminal law part of a law degree is, so I decided to do my nails.

I used Nail Inc's 'The Southbank', a lovely light gray colour, and then I experimented with my nail brush kit and used a Barry M nail polish. I have no idea what the shade is. It's bright pink and there's a number on the bottom of the bottle: 272.

Anywho, here is what I did:

I used the nail brush kit that I bought from eBay for 1p! Here they are:

I used the long striper brush in the middle to start with. Epic fail. Ruined a nail and had to start again. I ended up using a shorter, more rigid brush with a diameter of approximately 5mm (ish). Perfect for striping. I think I definitely need to practice doing different designs. Won't be trying out the leopard print design any time soon then...

Until next time,

Oh my days

Sheesh I just almost had a major catastrophe on my hands! Does anyone else's university use eVision? Bloody thing. I went on there a week or so ago to make sure my Direct Debit was set up for my accommodation payments. It said it was. I went on there tonight and it wasn't :S If I hadn't have checked I would have got chucked out of halls! Rubbish!!

Bought a textbook today. Practically £30. And a bunch of study packs. £24.50. I forgot one. That's another £6.50. And I've got another textbook to get at £33. Bad times!

But on the plus side, I'm FINALLY (GRRR!!!) getting my deposit back from the house I had the misfortune to live in off campus during the last academic year (despite having moved out in early April and the contract being up at the beginning of July). I'm gonna stop there or I'll start ranting.

And Amazon are depositing a nice £26 in my account for a book I sold last week. Get in. Plus I start work next week so shall be getting some more cash. It'll pay my two outgoings I guess.

Oo and I got my timetable today. 3rd year and I'm only in for 8 hours a week, or 10 hours every other week starting at the end of the month. But I suspect my free time will be spent in the library. Awesome. Talking of which, my weekend is going to be spent doing copious amounts of reading for EU law and Equity and Trusts. The former already being called boring by a number of fellow students. Fabulous.

It is ridiculously late. Why did I choose to live in accommodation so close to the bar? It's too noisy :(

Until next time,
Dottie xx
