NOTD: Mellow/Crazy!

Hello buttercups :)

I have a bit of a different NOTD for you today! Courtesy of Leanne, I was able to try a Claire's Mood Polish! Unfortunately these aren't available in the UK so I jumped at the chance of getting to try this out.

I think the name 'mood polish' is a bit misleading. These aren't like those retro 90's mood rings we all sported as kids (don't tell me I was the only one!) which supposedly changed according to whatever mood you were in. Claire's mood polishes change depending on whether your nail bed is hot or cold.

...Freshly painted nails

And the polish in action..

Purple when cold and pink when hot. Kinda cool but a bit gimmicky. It was amusing at first, but I found the polish to be pretty sheer and not really my thing. And it was all glittery and a pain to remove haha.

Have you tried Claire's Mood Polishes?

Review: Sigma E35 Tapered Blending Brush

Morning :)

Back in November when there were some great deals in the makeup world across the pond, I treated myself to a couple of Sigma brushes. This is the first one that I'll be reviewing!

Product

Sigma say: Fluffy, long-bristled brush with tapered tip.

I say: I've been looking for a good blending brush for ages, and I have to say that this has fulfilled my criteria. The E35 is soft, fluffy and blends amazingly well without taking away any colour. Brilliant!

Application

Sigma sayIdeally used to apply and blend colour to the crease area and to soften harsh edges.

I say: I've been using the E35 to blend out crease colours and to soften the outer edges of my make up looks. The E35 is lovely and soft and I find that it blends and softens really well. I haven't had any fallout from this either which is a plus. Overall, a great quality brush that I really rate. I'll definitely be buying a couple of back ups!

Review: Sleek Storm Palette

Good morning my darlings :)

I've had this since the Sleek 50% sale so I thought it was high time I reviewed it!

Product

Sleek sayThe Storm i-Divine palette comprises of 12 strong and rich shades perfect for accentuating the eyes and creating natural looks.

I say: I think Sleek have made a gem of a palette here. It's perfect for creating neutral looks - it's pretty much become my go to palette for when I want something simple and easy. It's also easy to do a smoked out look thanks to the darker shadea. There are 9 shimmery and metallic shades and 4 good mattes in this palette. I love the black, it's the best black shadow I've ever used! As with the rest of the Sleek palettes, the packaging is brilliant - a nice sturdy palette, and a fabulous full sized mirror which is perfect for travelling.

Application

Sleek sayThe velvet-touch consistency gives full and shimmering coverage to the eye lid for maximum effect. Each shade can be applied alone for a dramatic effect or mixed to create a personalised look. Best applied with the applicator enclosed.

I say: I really can't fault Sleek on the quality of their palettes. Their shadows are always highly pigmented and glide on super easy. I also find them really easy to blend, and they're not at all chalky. One thing I will say is this - Sleek, will you ever learn? Foam applicators are pants. Please replace them with an eye shadow brush :) Other than that I really cannot fault the Storm palette. I think it's a must have in anyone's collection.

Price: £6.49

No 7 Spring Collection

Good morning cupcakes :)

I must ask you to forgive me for this post. It's going to be a bit of a brand rave!

After seeing Ashlie's post about the No 7 Spring Collection, I finally remembered to pop in on my lunch break about a week ago. There was the teeniest, tiniest Spring collection stand imaginable, but it had all of the Spring products on it. I had a good old swatch session and I just couldn't resist. I had £20 of Boots vouchers to use so I snapped up a couple of products.  I used the lippie and gel liner the next day and I was hooked. So much so, I went back and snapped up the other two gel liners and the lippie as it was 3 for 2!!!

L-R: Gel Liner in Turquoise, Lipstick in Bridgette, Gel Liner in Blue, Lipstick in Grace, Gel Liner in Black

Let's have a good old nosey at the products!!

Gel Liners

I nearly didn't get this as I already own MAC Delphic, but after trying the others I decided to get this one too.

I picked up the blue liner first as it's one shade I don't own. I love it! It has a great consistency and has a lovely opacity to it.

The black liner blows all other black liners out of the water. Just saying.

Lipsticks

Bridgette - I think this is a fairly wearable light pink!

Grace - A gorgeous peachy shade that I'm loving right now!

Available up until March 22nd. Why are you still sat reading this? Pop down to Boots now! Go on, shoo! ;)

Review: No 7 Exquisite Curl Mascara

Morning :)

If you've been reading my tweets lately, you'll know that this week I have a particular penchant for No 7! A few days ago, I received their latest mascara to try, and I have to say I love it!

The Mascara

The Wand

No 7 say: No 7 Exquisite Curl mascara for curvy lashes with a sexy flutter. Lashes watch out - the latest mascara offering from No 7 will coax your lashes to a more beautifully curved and volumised look, with long lasting curl!

I say: Two words can sell a mascara to me and they are "curves" and "volume". I've come to realise that some mascara brands will market any words just to generate sales and the results are often dire. No 7 however have pleasantly surprised me! Exquisite curls certainly delivers on the curvy, volumised lashes front. Perfect!

Application

Before

After

No 7 say: The aptly named Exquisite Curl Mascara has a curved brush, tailored to enhance curl and volume. The unique formula with curl setting polymer helps keep lashes lifted throughout the day. The result? It curls lashes by up to 90 degrees. Eye look more open and lashes extended from root to tip - get ready to va va voom!

I say: I have to say that I was a tad sceptical when I saw the curved brush. I thought this was Maybelline Falsies take two. How wrong I was! I love the wand on the Exquisite Curls! I think it's a bit smaller than the Maybelline wand and I find that it fits my lashes perfectly. I used the curved side of the wand to help lift and coat my upper lashes from root to tip, and then I used the concave side of the brush to coat my lower lashes, which is does so brilliantly. I find that my lashes really are coated from the very root, and they do look a lot more curved than my standard mascara. I've also found that this mascara doesn't smudge or transfer onto my skin during the day, and the curl holds up all day. A double thumbs up from me, and this is definitely going on to my repurchase list!!!

Price: RRP £13 as of 23/02/11 - currently £10 and on 3 for 2!! Go, go, go!!
