Morning possums!!

It's Friday :D The weekend starts tonight! And it's Bonfire Night. Is anyone doing anything exciting?

Not so long ago, I was asked to post more FOTDs. Who am I to disappoint this possibly crazy person ;P

 

It took me FOREVER to take photos where the gorgeousness of Sleek Rose Gold showed up. I think I just about managed it. If you don't own this a) why? and b) you need it in your life :D

Review: Avon Tiger Eyes Quad

Morning lovelies :)

I've been having a bit of a play with this quad recently and now I have, it's time for a review!

Product

Avon say: Limited edition tiger print eye compact. 4 complementary shades. Silky smooth, intense, long lasting colour.

I say: I love the packaging, it's nice to have something a little bit different as it's easy to spot in my collection. It's quite a sturdy compact with a large mirror in the lid, perfect for on-the-go touch ups. In the quad you get 4 shadows and a standard double-ended foam applicator. I ordered this from a sale brochure a while ago and was drawn to it because it looked fairly neutral. I wasn't disappointed. There's a light highlight shade (top left), a shimmery copper (top right), a mushroom (bottom left), and a cocoa brown (bottom right). They're not the most pigmented shadows I've ever used, but over a primer they're a lot better. 

Application

Avon say: Well nothing, but there is a handy diagram on the back of the box which shows you how to apply the four colours in the quad:

I say: The above diagram essentially is about creating a smoky eye which is fairly easy once practiced a little. On to the application of the shadows, they're not necessarily of the best pigmentation used alone, however with a primer they're a lot stronger. Shade #1 used alone reminds me a little bit of MAC's Brule but with a hint of shimmer. As you can see from the swatches below it looks a little stronger over GOSH eye shadow stick in Beige, which also brings out the shimmer much more. Shade #2 is a lovely shimmery copper. Shade #3 is a mushroomy brown, and shade #4 is a cocoa brown colour. The latter two have a matte finish. Overall a nice quad to have in your collection.

Hello petals :)

I thought I'd show you my latest batch of baked goods!

Cupcakes

These were meant to be red velvet but I forgot the red food colouring in the cake mixture. So these were chocolate cupcakes with pink icing and chocolate sprinkles :)

Chocolate Brownie

These were the lushest brownies ever!

When the brownie had cooled, I cut it up into roughly 1 inch x 1 inch squares and separated them into 4 air tight containers (lunch boxes to be precise haha) and then proceeded to freeze some, and the rest was stored in the fridge as it keeps better and goes nice and fudgey/sticky in the middle.

Om nom nom! Stay tuned for the next installment, I've got all sorts of things planned!

Review: Models Own Lipgloss in Ballet Pink

Do you remember back to when Models Own had their epic 50% sale in August? Well, I thought it was the perfect time to stock up on a few things. Due to an order error (don't worry Models Own, I know you were uber busy! You are forgiven!) I received this lipgloss. I've recently had a sort out of my make up collection and found this so I've been road-testing it especially for you lovelies.

Models Own say: Superboost your kissability! Squeezy tubes of professional formula lipgloss in pout-perfect shades.

I say: I have a love/hate relationship with lipgloss. I'm always wary of trying new ones for fear of the dreaded stickyness. And usually the same generic sweet smell. Step in Models Own Ballet Pink. Gorgeous colour, great formula, plenty of shine, no stickyness at all and to top it off, it smells like coconut! Specifically reminds me of those Liquorice Allsorts - you know the round yellow/pink ones with coconut in? Lush!

Application

Models Own say: Nothing but it's common sense isn't it?

I say: Starting off with the packaging, Models Own lipglosses have the generic hole in the tube type application format as you can see in the image above. This is quite useful as it's easy to clean. Moving on to the product, this lipgloss is smooth, uber shiny, non-sticky, easy to apply and has a pleasant fragrance. I find it lasts quite a while on the lips too. Ballet Pink is quite a sheer shade as you can see from the swatch above which is great if you're looking to use it for a neutral lip or over the top of a lipstick. Definite thumbs up from me!
