You Are My Sunshine

I have a new addition to my desk. Its basically artificial daylight and I love it. Step forward my new and much loved Lumie Desklamp.* Lately I seem to be going to work in the dark and coming home in the dark and beavering away in an office all day means I don't get to see much of the sun, not that we've seen much of it lately here! This is where the Lumie Desklamp comes in handy. With its handy 4 levels of touch control light intensity, it mimics summer sunlight which helps to boost concentration, productivity and mood whilst restoring natural energy levels. If you're not familiar with the Lumie brand, their lightboxes are aimed at combatting symptoms of SAD, or Seasonal Affective Disorder, with summer levels of bright light in the form of blue-enriched LEDs which are known for regulating our bodyclocks.

This has been an absolute God send for me. I had a serious case of the winter blues recently and I wish I'd had the Lumie Desklamp then! In a morning, I put the light on for around an hour (the recommended time - it can also be used for 30 minutes without the diffuser) whilst I'm getting ready for work and the light certainly gives me a boost and helps me feel more awake. It's just like having an extra window at your side, flooded with daylight. I feel awake, I feel energised and I feel happy. A perfect way to kickstart my day.

I also love using this in an afternoon. Actual daylight may diminish at 4pm and as a result I find myself thinking its actually much later than it really is and I feel tired earlier. If I'm pottering around sorting things out or blogging, I always have the light on and I feel like I get more done. As bloggers, we all know that with the reduced number of daylight hours comes a reduced opportunity for taking photos. Having the Lumie Desklamp at my disposal has enabled me to continue taking photos even as the daylight fades away. With its adjustable neck, I can angle the light where I need it whether that be for taking photos, blogging, creating nail art or doing my makeup.

Overall, I think the Lumie desklamp is a brilliant product and a very valuable addition to my desktop!

The Lumie Desklamp can be purchased from John Lewis

Have you tried anything from Lumie? Has anyone tried the Bodyclock? I'd be interested to hear your thoughts!

  5. Oh that looks great! There's nothing worse than waking up in the morning to go to work and it's dark, and coming home at night and it's still dark... Sounds like it might help banish my winter blues aswell...
