Review: Urban Decay Best of Urban Set - Baked #

Hello blossoms :)

A while ago, I ordered the Urban Decay Baked box set from halfpriceperfumes.co.uk. I thought it was high time I gave it a review :)

Product

Urban Decay say:
Eye Shadow: This is the product we were born to make - out best seller! Professionals, celebrities, and make up junkies swoon for our array of shades. Each one is pigment-rich: we load the shadow with colour, and add very few binders (the stuff that holds shadow together), resulting in beautiful colour that blends easily and lasts. Lots of finishes to suit your mood: sparkle, shimmer, duotone or un-sparkly satin. Our subway token compact comes complete with a window (see your shade without opening), and snaps shut with one hand - no more lost lids.

Heavy Metal Glitter Liner: All the glitz of glam rock without the spandex or bad hair. These arresting shades of glitter are suspended in a clear base and apply with a tiny, precise brush. Paint thin lines with the tip of the brush, or sweeping colour with the side of the brush for dramatic, jewel-encrusted eyes. Once dry, they will not budge - the glitter won't fall to your cheeks or transfer to your makeout partner's face. Make sure you let each coat dry a bit before applying the next for perfect glitter distribution.

24/7 Glide On Pencil: The best eye pencil ever, ever, ever! Never before has a pencil this creamy and brilliant been waterproof, too. Velvety--soft, this never-before-seen formula stays soft and creamy for blending (about 30 seconds), then dries down to a long-lasting finish that WILL NOT budge. Line eyes with a hint of colour or go for the full artistic, multi-hued effect with the wide selection of lush tropical hues, deep metallics and unusually vibrant neutrals. Incredible with Urban Decay eye shadows! Created with 50% moisturizing ingredients suspended in a sophisticated waterproof formula, 24/7 eye pencils offer long-lasting colour and a dreamy, creamy feel when applied. With Jojoba Oil, Vitamin E and Cottonseed Oil.

UDPP: This miracle eye shadow primer is unmatched by any other in the beauty industry! The genie in this bottle fulfils three wishes: eye shadow that lasts, more vibrant and lasting colour, and absolutely NO creasing. Apply Primer Potion to lids before shadow application. It dries down almost instantly (and invisibly), creating smooth lids that are super powered eye shadow magnets. The formula is full of silicone, which you beauty mavens know makes for a smooth and silky application.

I say:
Eye Shadow: Baked is the shade that comes with this set, and it is absolutely gorgeous. Very highly pigmented, as you can see from the swatches (below).

Heavy Metal Glitter Liner: I found this to be a little lacking on the glitter side - you need a good two or three coats for it to show. However the staying power is pretty brilliant and there's no danger of finding your face looking like glitterball central!

24/7 Glide On Pencil: Oh em gee. Truly the best eye pencil ever, ever, ever! The formula is second to none resulting in great application and enables you to blend before it fully sets. And once it has set, it really doesn't budge so I was pleased. It also stayed longer on my waterline then any other eye liner I've used!

UDPP: I'll admit I was sceptical about UDPP. I applied it and it virtually vanished. Hmm. I wasn't holding out much hope, but it worked! It left my eye lids smooth and soft, and it really is a magnet for eye shadow. Once my shadow is applied it stays put and doesn't fade or crease. Perfect!

Application

Urban Decay say:
Eye Shadow: All eye shadows can be used wet. For more intense colour, try them as a liner! Dust sparkly shades on cheekbones and shoulders with out Powder brush for unearthly shimmer.

Heavy Metal Glitter Liner: Heavy Metal can be worn alone, over eye shadows, or with other Glitter Liner shades. Try a deep shade as your main eye liner, and a light, bright shade as a highlight on the inner corners.

24/7 Glide On Pencil: 24/7 eye pencils are ideal for lining inner lids because the waterproof formula stays put. Just apply, try not to blink for a sec, and you've got immovable liner.

UDPP: A little goes a long way! Apply a thin coat and let dry, then apply eye shadow as you normally would. Then DARE it to crease. (Double-dog dare it, even!)

I say:
Eye Shadow: I've used Baked wet and dry and have to say it's pretty brilliant. Applied over UDPP, it stays vibrant, lasts all day and doesn't crease or fade. Win!

Heavy Metal Glitter Liner: I wasn't too chuffed with this one to be honest. I'm not one for glitter liners anyway, and this didn't float my boat at all. It required several coats and the formula doesn't seem to be overloaded with glitter, which is a shame.

24/7 Glide On Pencil: Love this! Bourbon is a beautiful brown with little fine glittery gold flecks. The creamy formula applies like a dream, and is blendable for about 30 seconds before it sets. I find that it stays put all day on my upper lid, and the staying power is the best I've witnessed on my waterline.

UDPP: Urban Decay are right, a little does go a long way. There doesn't seem to be a lot of product in this travel sized tube and I thought one wand full wouldn't be enough for one eyelid but it is, and I was pleasantly surprised. One wand full is enough for a thin coat. Once dry, I apply my shadows. I did dare them to crease, and you know what? They didn't!

  3. I use all these products religiously every day as I find that the gold really brings out my blue eyes. Didn't realise they had them all together in a box set! Will have to buy it as I've dropped my eyeshadow and it's such a mess to use now and my eyepencil is almost a stump! Not good... :P x
