Review: Nails Inc Mayfair Hand Wash & Hand Lotion

Hi :)

I mentioned back in December that I received several Nails Inc sets from my parents. One of those was this hand wash and hand lotion set. In my opinion, it's one of those sets that you'd like to try but wouldn't buy yourself because for what it is, essentially soap and moisturizer, there's no justification for the price. So I was glad I received this for Christmas as it meant I could try these products out without having to feel the burn in my wallet!

Hand lotion 'swatch'

About the product

Nails Inc say:
Giftset: Any bathroom, bedroom or boudoir (ooer!) will love the look of these sensational hand care products. Developed to leave hands feeling silky smooth and refreshed. Enriched with essential oils and a delicate zesty fragrance of orange, mandarin and geranium that all customers will love!
Hand wash: Created with natural ingredients and preservative free, this luxurious handwash is gentle on your skin. Fall in love with the delicate coconut scent and enjoy having super smooth hands
Hand lotion: Easily absorbed and soft on your skin, use this fabulous lotion to nourish, moisturize and hydrate your hands. This is the essential partner to your Mayfair hand wash!

I say: Yes, the packaging is gorgeous, and let's face it, us ladies will buy something if it looks pretty. Let me tell you more before you rush to order it. Both products smell absolutely gorgeous due to the essential oils that they contain. However, the hand wash does not smell of coconut. Methinks someone got the product description on the website and the bottle wrong. I haven't found the hand wash at all moisturizing, quite the opposite in fact. It's been drying my skin out, which is a shame because for the price, you'd want it to do exactly what it said on the bottle. The hand lotion however is slightly better on that front. It does moisturize but that feeling doesn't last overly long and I think it is actually a bit greasy, contrary to the claims on the bottle. It also takes ages to absorb into your skin. On a good point, it contains SPF and it smells divine, but again for the price, you'd want it to do a much better job.

Price: The gift set is £20, both items worth £27 separately, or £18 if you are part of the Reward Scheme
Size: 2 x 250ml bottles

  3. It's not the packaging that does the hand washing or the moisturizing though is it?
